BRITISH GT - Round 1 - Qualifying

3rd April 2010

The weather was very kind for practice and qualifying on Saturday with first practice run on a damp but drying track but everyone opted to run on wets regardless.

It was also the first opportunity for Benjamin to drive the car in it's final set up configuration from Silverstone last week. Rory did the first stint to dial the car in and handed over to Ben who then settled in to a good rhythm and finsihed by setting the fastest and class leading time of 1.59.69 - the only G4 car to break 2 mins.

Practice 2 was in the dry and the times came tumbling down which ended with Rory setting the class leading time again of 1.46.77.

Benjamin ran in the first qualifying race which was unfortunately interrupted after just a couple of laps due to a hefty off by Craig Wilkins in the Viper which we ran last year. Fortunately he is ok but the same cannot be said for the car. In spite of this Ben brought his times down significantly and finished P3 for the class a full 10 seconds quicker than his morning practice time with a lap of 1.49.9

Rory ran the second qualiying race and basically did the business by putting the car on pole for G4 with a time of 1.45.8.

The car ran faultlessly throughout the day so we now look forward to the 2 races on Monday. Both one hour races with a mandatory driver change.
