Sam Mowle gets his spurs
4th April 2010
Slotted in on the Sunday between qualifying and race day of British GT, Sam Mowle was entered in the KTM X-Bow Clubsport for the 750 Motor Clubs Allcomers race at Mallory Park.
The primary objective of this race was for Sam to get the final signature required to qualify for his National Race licence so all he really had to do was tootle around safely for a few laps but the natural racer instinct kicked in as soon as the engine fired up and he qualified in a very creditable fourth place on the grid.
After the flag fell, he soon made up a place into third and was working his way nicely up to the leaders and getting ready to make a move when the red flags came out for another incident. The ensuing confusion and disruption unsettled Sam a little and was just getting back into his stride when the chequered flag came out.
So a very satisfying first solo outing for Sam in the X-Bow, getting his first podium for third and trophy of course and the all important signature. First call after the race was to proud but nervous dad, Colin chewing on his fingernails back on Mona's Isle
So the scene is now set for the opening round of the BUTE GT Cup at Silverstone on 17th & 18th April
