BRITISH GT - GT4 CHAMPIONS 2011
16th October 2011
After a season filled with elation, drama, trauma and frustration, ABG Motorsport clinched the GT4 Championship at the season finale at Silverstone last weekend.
In spite of the draconian penalties imposed following the Brands Hatch round where Peter and Marcus recorded their last class victory, sheer determination, consistency and reliability of the ABG prepared X-Bow enabled them to clich overall victory. We only needed to finish in the top 5 to win but that was not our plan. We race to get the best result possible and the boys raced their hearts out to finish second thereby winning the GT4 category by a margin of 41.5 points.
To underpin the competitiveness of the ABG prepared cars, Athanasios Ladas and Michael Mallock still finished 9th in the category in spite of only competing in the first three rounds.
As a bonus, Marcus also finished runner up in the Sunoco Daytona Challenge behind new British F3 Champion Felipe Nasr and in front of bigger names like Matt Griffin, Aaron Scott, both Geddies and David Ashburn. Peter Belshaw finished 9th.
A special thank you and well done to the team of Simon, Milo, John H for their dedication, long hours and skill in making sure we made the grid for every race.
We would also like to express our thanks to all those who supported us throughourt the season....... Avon Tyres, Proflex Dampers, FTS Hatswell, e-motive and EJL Associates
